What is it ?

The RYA Level 2 Powerboat course aims to teach boat handling and seamanship in powerboats and is aimed at vessels no greater than 24 metres in length or 80 tons in weight whichever is the greatest. It includes close quarters handling, high speed manoeuvres, man overboard recovery and collision regulations.

Avitys certificate

I have now completed my training and got my Powerboat Level II certificate. This means that I am now authorized to drive a powerboat, such as a tender onboard a large motoryacht.

Moving South

In order to get closer from its customers, partners and suppliers, Avitys is now moving in Antibes in South of France.

This will also be the opportunity to be present at the Antibes Yacht Show which will be held in Antibes between the 8th and the 11th of April 2010.

STCW 95 basic security training

What is STCW95 ?

You will find it difficult to obtain a job in yachting unless you have an STCW 95 crew basic training certificate. This course provides training to seafarers in topics such as communication, organisation, group behavior, safety and personal interaction,which influence human relationships aboard ship. It covers the minimum training requirements outlined in the Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers (STCW). Basic training takes place over 5 days and comprises 4 courses. These are: Personal Survival Techniques, Personal Safety and Social Responsibility, Fire Prevention and Firefighting and Elementary First Aid.

Avitys STCW 95 certificate

I have now completed my training and got my certificate. This means that I am now complying with the regulation to join a crew as seafarer. This is also a good point for Avitys, as captains may require contractors to have this certificate before going at sea.

Avitys at the Monaco Yacht Show

The Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) is an annual trade show in Monaco, where some of the newest luxury yachts are on display. The four-day event has its 19th anniversary in September, 2009, and features conferences and cocktail parties – basically a place to network and make new contacts.

This year, the Monaco Yacht Show takes place from the 23rd to the 26th of September. I will be there all day tomorrow. Please feel free to contact me if you want to meet me.
